How to access your NHS account on another phone

Using someone else’s phone to access your NHS account

You can use someone else’s phone or tablet to set up your NHS login. But you’ll need access to the phone number you provide, as we send a security code to it every time you log in.

You might have used your NHS login to access one or more websites or apps, as well as your NHS account.

How to delete your NHS login

You can delete your account using the NHS App or NHS website:

  1. Log in to the NHS App or NHS website.
  2. Go to More and select Account and settings.
  3. Select Manage NHS login account and select Your NHS login details.
  4. Select Delete your NHS login.

You can also delete your NHS login on the NHS login website.

After you have deleted your NHS login:

  • you will not be able to access those websites or apps using your NHS login (you might have to set up a new login if you want to access them)
  • they might keep some information about you

Managing NHS App notifications

If you are using the NHS App to access your NHS account, you can choose if you want to allow notifications or not.

Notifications are not available when you use the NHS website to access your NHS account.

We use notifications to tell you when you have a new message.

Read more about messages in your NHS account.

To turn notifications on or off:

  1. Log in to the app.
  2. Go to More.
  3. Select Account and settings.
  4. Then select Manage notifications.
  5. Use the toggle to turn notifications on or off.

If you use the app on multiple devices, you’ll need to allow notifications on each device.

If you share your device with someone else, they will be able to see your notifications.

We are testing sending more messages from NHS services to some app users. It’s a convenient and secure way to get appointment reminders and other messages that you might usually get a different way – for example, through text messages or letters. If you do not turn on notifications, we may not send you some of these messages.

Security and privacy

Your personal information is used to confirm your identity and set up your NHS login. This is done in line with data protection laws. Your information will not be shared without your consent. It is stored securely, in a way that follows the NHS login privacy notice.

NHS login has been designed to keep your personal information secure. It has been independently tested against standards set by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC).
